Sailing can be nice……

Entering Germany we took a little east to ride the countryside of former DDR.. Still you find many brick roads , lots of houses and villages from ”back then”

Some had also written the history on the wall…..like here in the University in Jena.

Many miles passing and we had a break in The English Garden in Munic,,,,it’s something like Central Park, New York.. The English Garden is one of the largest city park in the world,,,
Leaving Munic direction south,,,crossing the Alps,,,From about 35 C ( 95F) and sun to 13 C (55) and fog in some hours..
Bikers coming out of the fog…

Leaving the Alps and crossing north Italy direction the Mediterranean..hot again ..about 38 C ( 100F )
Cinque Terre ( Five countries)….5 small villages clinging to the hillside along the Mediterranean… The whole area is a park now and very restricted for car / bike driving… Very nice and special villages though,,,

A couple of days there before heading north again..
The Alps again…Switzerland is…..yes, Switzerland..

Basel is a cool city…on the west, top corner of Switzerland..
Look to left and you actually see,,,France,,look to the right and you actually see Germany..
In the middle of the city you can see signs just saying France..or Germany… Take a wrong turn in a crossing and you end up in wrong country…
We choose France…

Churches…
I have an internest in religion and churches as a cultural phenomen… and how countries…people,,,rich or poor, have let the church get a big influence on their lives..
Basel
Bonn

And most of all..the Cologne Cathedral , which was started in 1200 somthing and finished late 1800…about 600 years to build it!!! At the time it was one of the biggest building in the world!
Just a few years back it was suggested to ”delete” it and build high blocks there ( !!!! ???? ),,but after discussions the choose to keep it…
