Gravel roads on the norther Norway
Can you help me for finding gravel road (grusvei) on the norther Norway?
I'm from Finland and next summer we drive following route on norther Norway:
https://goo.gl/maps/NJ5bj6om1o22
We use three day for this route.
We drive adventure motorcycles and also we like small gravel road and off-road. Can you tell to me nice places and roads near by this route?

Hi there, jokor
and very welcome to MCsiden.no
.
This thread might be of interest to you. It's about gravel roads her in Norway. I'm unfortunately not familiar with such roads in the northern parts of Norway.
But I'm pretty sure that other members on this forum will get on the board and tell your about good alternatives up north :) .

Not 100 % sure since I don't know this area like the locals do. But after one trip up there I don't think there are many gravel roads on this route...jokor skrev: I'm from Finland and next summer we drive following route on norther Norway:

Re: Gravel roads on the norther Norway
Yep. When I look a map I think that we must mainly drive on the asphalt road.
Would be great if we could drive the gravel road sometimes. Example we can go out of the route and drive to the some fine place along the gravel road.

Gravel roads, OK, as a rule of thumb. Obviously not OK when you come across one of these...
:

Footpaths not OK as they aren't meant for cars and motorcycles:
§ 1. (Purpose)
The purpose of this Act is to regulate motor traffic on uncultivated land and in watercourses on the basis of overall considerations of the public interest, with a view to protecting the natural environmental and promoting public welfare.
§ 2. (Scope)
For the purpose of this Act, motor traffic means the use of vehicles (cars, tractors, motorcycles, snowmobiles, weasels, etc.) and boats or other motorized floating craft or hovercraft, and landing or taking off with motorized aircraft.
(...)
Roads in uncultivated areas that are not constructed for motor cars are considered to be uncultivated land for the purpose of this Act.

Thank you for this informations!
How about if you are forest owner. Can you drive a motorcycle in your forest?
And can I drive on the footpath if I get permission from the landowner?

As far as I know the Act of 10 June 1977 No.82 applies to both private and public uncultivated land...jokor skrev:Thank you for this informations!

Re: Gravel roads on the norther Norway
Interesting. In Finland, the landowner decides how his lands use (eg. motor traffic).
Norway nature is so beatiful and important that perhaps it is necessary to protect it like this.
I need to forget the footpath. Any idea of gravel roads?

Re: Gravel roads on the norther Norway
From Narvik you can go too Beisfjord from there is two roads up Skamdalen
From Håkvik you can drive up Håkvikdalen
Skjomen you have already been told about It is nice up those mountains.
From Råna it is road to Rånvassbotn. I drove thees roads 20 years ago
North of Kjøpsvik it is gravelroad to Haukøya that is nice I drove there 2015
North from Drag there is an road to Kaldvåg
From Tømmerneset it is an road too Hopen at Mørsvikfjorden
When you arrive at Sildhopen I suggest you take the road via Bonåsjøen instead of E6 although it is not gravel. I drove ther i 2015.
From Vesterbotn along Kobbvbatnet ther is an gravel road up Gjerdalen to Reinoksvatnet
Just after trengsel bridge before Tennflåget tunell there is an nice road to Nordfjord that is nice although there is asphalt.
Further against Fauske ther ar more paralell roads to E6 with gravel https://www.vegvesen.no/vegkart/vegkart ... 872:58b02c Green is asphalt on this map from the road authority and smaler roads are not classified.
From Fauske take the road against Sulithjelma. When you get to Solvik ther is an road to Grytvika at E6
From Misvær there is a road on the other side of the bay I guess is gravel, and it may be possible to drive up to Klettkovfjellet.
I moved from the area in 1996 so it could have come asphalt few more places than then.
Hope this can be some help

We are going on a trip at the beginning of August. Is there then a lot of tourists? Do we need to book a cabin much earlier?
