2017 KTM 390 Duke

This is a full production version of the 2017 KTM 390 Duke which was spotted inside the Indian factory in Pune where the bikes are manufactured by KTM partner Bajaj.
Although the bike is still partially covered, changes to the front light and side panels can still be clearly seen. The new front light appears to be a new LED unit that works with the updated side panels for a new and slightly more aggressive look.
An update for the big-selling 390 Duke was expected because the bike needs to make legal for forthcoming Euro4 emissions testing and noise regulations.
Previous spy shots have shown other visual changes to the bike including a reshaped fuel tank and what appears to be an updated seat unit and a revised rear light but there are sure to be a host of engine internal changes to satisfy new Euro4 regulations. We can also see the front brake disc has been changed also.
KTM is remaining tight-lipped about the changes to the bike but MCN understands this bike will be revealed officially later this year before going on sale in 2017.
The updates to the 390 Duke are not unexpected. Not only is the bike going to have to meet new Euro4 regulations but even without those around the corner, the 390 Duke was first introduced in 2013 so is due a mid-life refresh to keep it competitive. The 373cc single-cylinder motor currently produces 43bhp and this may well go up slightly with changes made for new regulations as more stable combustion and more efficient fuel delivery with the latest engine management systems not only give more power but increase fuel economy too.
There is also the chance KTM will have fitted the second balancer shaft in the cylinderhead as first seen on the KTM 690 Duke launched last year. This extra balancer shaft works to smooth out the low rev engine response.
