Gearing issues on Suzuki GSX650F

Hiya all,

I need your help.

I changed my chain and sprockets on the GSX650F and have put everything back together.

However, i've got a problem with my gearing. If in start the bike and put it into first, the bike stalls. The bike also stalls if i put the side stand up in neutral.

I did initially put the gear rod on in the wrong angle and clicked the gear. I'm wondering if i've knocked it out of sync if you know what i mean.

I'm wondering if i put the gear rod back on in the wrong way click the gears all the way up or down.

The bike rolls freely in neutral and doesn't in 1st. If i pull the clutch in in first with the engine off it rolls freely too.

I can click up 5 gears from neutral up to 6th gear. However, when i click down...i can only click down 4 gears.

Any advice greatly received. Clueless mechanical noob.

Maybe you can take a pithure off the gear level??? Better to see then :)

I would have taken a look at the sidestand, neutral, clutch switch.

The chain of events is only relevant for the sidestand switch.

If you in some way had inadvertantly "un-synched" the gear to switch ratio, which you haven't, you would have problems starting in neutral.

Check all wiring and contacts. Put it on the center stand. "Strips" tight the sidestand to make sure it's all the way up.

Sit on the bike, weight forward so the rear wheel is off the ground.

Start, and set in gear, any gear..
