Ride Magazine K1300

I know a lot of you got upset when Ride Magazine noted the ZZR1400 discs can warp, forks aren't the best and the finish could be a shade better, but at least they were being honest, in this months mag they review the BMW K1300, I know a couple of 1400 owners have tried these "superior" machines first....
Engine...
The K1200 was a bit prone to camchain and tensioner problems and the 1300 is getting a similar reputation...theres a BMW special part which stops the chain jumping a tooth...this parts optional, but according to BMW if you don't have it fitted then it will invalidate your warranty....There were a couple of cases of main bearings failing but the ones we have heard of were very low mileage examples....some owners reported erratic running.
Hot Starting....
Several owners reported problems restarting the bike......most managed to restart after leaving it to cool down for 15 minutes but a couple ended up going home on a breakdown truck.
Electrics....
There are more niggles with this aspect than any other
Final Drive....
This was uprated from the 1200, which was a little troublesome ((this means lasts as long as a chain if your lucky and costs 8 times as much) it can still be affected by collapsing rear hub bearings
Finish...
Not as good as you might expect
The I own one side pieces has three owners all of which experienced some difficulties and warranty claims.
OK I picked the bad bits, but I don't think they found anyone who had a roadside breakdown on the ZZR1400 for that article, I am not even sure if anyone here has ever reported one, and apart from discs and tanks virtually nobody has claimed onanything else under warranty. The ZZR Engine, Gearbox and Clutch are bulletproof, the electrics very reliable and finish no worse than most other similar bikes on the market. Bearing in mind this was an upgrade model, how bad was the original 1200

Hope that cheers up everyone who was offended by the ZZR being "slated" so badly, and puts into perspective how good these bikes are, and if they do ever go wrong you don't need to pay a main dealer £100 per hour to patronise you.
Old has-been, well past being able to handle a ZZR, or be trusted with one, put myself out to pasture on an "Adventure Bike".
Jeg tror dette er tatt ut fr Ride Reader Survey. Dog vant akkurat denne biken:

Selv med relativt mange problemer og feil. Dog må jeg bare si, mine K1200S'er var jævelsk gode, når de virka!
